Living on an old, now converted railroad bed, my surroundings are littered with reminders of the past. One of the most prominent and abundent are large chucks of coal that were transported from downstate, directly up to Lake Ontario to be loaded on ships. While the origins and use of coal are problematic to say the least, coal itself is a beautiful material, and the Onyx Collection honors that inherent beauty, often forgotten in the justifiable concerns around the materials itself.
